Medvedev promises non-standard anti-crisis steps for industry
GORKI, Moscow Region, Jan 19 (PRIME) -- The Russian government will take non-standard measures to support industry amid the crisis, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Monday at a government meeting.
“We are already implementing some measures; they cover pharmaceuticals, partially machinery manufacturing, agriculture, the defense sector. In several cases, we must find quite complex, I should say, non-standard decisions regarding what to do,” Medvedev said.
The ministries have prepared measures to stimulate demand for locally produced products and to keep output at the current level despite the forecasted economic contraction, he said.
“We will use the project financing mechanism, the fund for industry development and, naturally, we will use the possibilities of state purchases and other instruments to support production and exports,” Medvedev said commenting on the main and most standard steps he will consider.
The government must try and raise exports to Asia, Africa and Latin America, he said.
